In January I heard about a free art workshop for kids at a local art studio. Adam and Kyle were both old enough for it, and they were really excited. They first got to look at some art in the museum, then they got to make their own painting. Here is Adam working on his.
And here's Kyle. He was feeling rather shy, surrounded by all these kids he didn't know. I think he was also a bit confused because they were talking about how works of art portray emotion and wanted the kids to paint something that represented an emotion. It was a bit over Kyle's head, I think. So he sat there for a long time not knowing what to paint. Finally I just told him to paint whatever he wanted. He decided to paint some corn on the cob. What can I say, the boy loves corn on the cob. :)
I wasn't overly impressed with this art studio, but at some point I would like to let Adam take an art class or something. He really enjoys it, and I can definitely tell he's got some of the artistic genes that come from both sides of the family. Here is a picture of a blue jay he drew for a scout activity where we learned about birds.
