December Fun

We didn't get around to doing a lot of the stuff I wanted to (where did the month go?) but here are some of the fun activities we did during December.

We made gingerbread playdoh.  We cut out gingerbread men (and other Christmas shapes) then decorated them with buttons, jewels, etc.  Kyle especially played with this a TON during the month.

After making the playdoh, the boys wanted to make some real gingerbread cookies.  So we did.  Gingerbread cookies don't taste good enough to be worth the work in my opinion, but my boys sure gobbled them up!

When it was my turn to host preschool group, we were on the letter "I."  So we did "I is for igloo" and made igloos out of ice cream cones, white frosting, and marshmallows.  We're down to just 3 in our preschool group now, which is actually really nice - it's very low-key.

Adam got to make graham cracker gingerbread houses with his class at school.  My friend watched Jack and Kyle for me so I could go help that day - it was fun!

We had some friends over for a Family Home Evening and had the kids act out the Nativity story.

The elf on the shelf joined us for the first time this year (thanks to Grandma McDonough for getting him for us!).  The boys named him Elfie (which I'm pretty sure is short for Elfred).  Every morning they would run down the stairs and the first thing they would do was look for Elfie.  Sometimes he was on the Christmas tree, sometimes hanging from a light fixture, sometimes sitting in someone's stocking, one time we caught him sneaking some candy, and on Kyle's birthday he had on a party hat and held a sign that said, "Happy Birthday, Kyle!"  He is back at the North Pole now but we look forward to having him come back next year!
