Rob and I are lucky that our boys all love to read. We tried to make it to the library often this summer to check out new books. Usually this is how the boys walk out of the library ... they can't stop reading long enough to walk to the car!
One time Adam checked out a couple of books with ideas for magic tricks, and he put on a magic show for the family. His little brothers got a big kick out of it.
The other reason we love the library in the summer is they offer a Summer Reading program. They just have to fill out a reading log and they get all kinds of prizes! One of the prizes was free Mini Murph kits from Papa Murphy's. Basically they have the dough, sauce, and toppings inside and the kids get to build their own pizza. They also got BounceU passes, free ice cream coupons, Round Table coupons, etc. Oh, and they got some free books too. It's a great program.
Here are some of the books the boys enjoyed this summer:
-Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordian (Adam read these a while ago, but this summer Kyle discovered them and blew through the series)
-Redwall series by Brian Jacques (Adam)
-Tales from the Odyssey books by Mary Pope Osborne (Kyle)
-The Dragon Masters series by Tracey West (I got these for Jack, and he loved them! They are great beginning chapter books. Kyle enjoyed them too, even though they were easy for him)
-The Map to Everywhere by Carrie Ryan (Adam)
-Ricky Ricotta books by Dav Pilkey (Jack)
-The Gingerbread Pirates by Kristin Kladstrup - Asher has asked me to read this over and over to him. I might have to buy this one for Christmas :) Asher has also been enjoying the Fly Guy books too (we already had several, and got a couple free from the reading program

Thank you so much for posting the books your boys are enjoying!! I have a hard time finding new stuff to keep Blake happy. He is rereading the Warriors series now, after rereading Percy Jackson and Harry Potter this summer. I have already put some of these books on hold at my library! It's so hard to picture Kyle reading these big chapter books! Clark is a good reader, but he didn't even finish Percy Jackson (I don't think he's that into fantasy). And Isaac is barely getting into chapter books so I'm going to get that series that Jack likes for him. I do miss the Lincoln Reading Program, they always had great prizes! Our library isn't nearly as good at prizes or free books. They do have tons of fun activities during the summer, so I guess there's that. :)
